WHY IT MATTERS

WE ARE DEVOURING OUR PLANET

When you think of where our food comes from, you might think about your local grocer or butcher, or the farmer who produced the food. Maybe you picture orchards full of lush trees or sleepy cows peacefully grazing on fields of green grass. All things natural and wholesome and life-giving.

So it might surprise you that food actually has a bigger environmental impact than cars or factories.

FOOD WASTE IS THE

WORLD'S

DUMBEST

PROBLEM

The way we produce and consume food is the single biggest threat to our planet. It uses the largest portion of all land and freshwater on Earth. It’s the biggest cause of deforestation and toxic greenhouse gas emissions which are causing climate change. It threatens wildlife on land and is causing fish stocks to collapse.

YET MORE THAN1/3 OF ALL THIS ECOLOGICAL IMPACT IS ACTUALLY AVOIDABLE

BECAUSE WE WASTE MORE THAN 1/3 OF THE FOOD WE PRODUCE

If we can combat food waste and instead Save 1/3,  we will go a long way towards building a sustainable future for life on Earth.

OF MORE THAN JUST FOOD

SAVE 1/3

Producing even a tiny serving of food consumes a big chunk of natural resources and generates a lot of pollution. If we avoid waste, we ensure that those resources were not used pointlessly. It also means we can be more efficient with our food distribution and reduce the need to produce excess food as we try to feed a growing population.

What Do We Actually Save?

SO HOW MUCH CAN WE ACTUALLY
SAVE WHEN WE SAVE 1/3?
